Make Me A ZALORA Model (MMAZM) is a competition started by ZALORA last year to give opportunities to aspiring models who are looking for their break in the fashion and modelling industry. Opening this year’s competition to both men and women category across the region, individuals from Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Indonesia, Hong Kong and the Philippines can take part in this annual contest.
Using the social media as the search to find the models, interested participants joined in the fun by posting their OOTD photos with the hashtag #MMAZMCycle2 to have the chance in the selection process. One female and male from each country are then selected to compete in the final rounds.
The competition last process was held for two days at ZALORA Production Studio and APW Bangsar in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. On 5th October, we started the finalists with an editorial photoshoot challenge by fashion photographer Saufi Nadzri and directed by ZALORA’s in-house creative team in order to test them on their photogenic skills.
Leading on to the next stage, ZALORA had organized Make Me A ZALORA Model (MMAZM) Cycle 2 Grand Finale the next day at APW, Bangsar by running a catwalk contest for the finalists which was hosted by model-actress, Alicia Amin.
The winners of the MMAZM Cycle 2 contest was judged by six individuals consisting of Shikin Gomez, model and Asia’s Next Top Model Cycle 5 finalist, Luke Pereira, Singapore based model represented by Upfront Models, Giulio Xiloyannis, ZALORA’s Managing Director, Rayne Reed, Head of ZALORA Design Studio, Andrea Wong, Head of Studio and Styling at ZALORA and Jessica Weston, ZALORA’s Fashion Director.
Coming on top was Syaqireen Hasnoddin from Malaysia (male category) and Sylvia Suri from Indonesia (female category) winning themselves a paid contract to be the Face of ZALORA 2018. They will also sign on with Upfront Models, the official model agency for MMAZM Cycle 2 and receive a year’s worth of wardrobe from ZALORA.
The other remaining finalist did not leave empty handed as they were offered to work with the event’s official photography partner, Klaud9, in order to help them build their portfolio and pursue their modelling career in the future.
Among of the guest who came to enliven the event were Nana Al-Haleq, Alia Bastamam, Zaihani Mohd Zain, Jiman Casablancas and Marisa Soraya. Guest were treated to an evening full of delicious tacos and cocktails together with a pampering manicure session from Posh Nail Spa.
