For those who love travelling, you can definitely relate to our November man crush, Salman. This   22 year old studying in Bachelor(hons) in Civil Engineering is an avid traveller and loves adventure. Travelling around the world and discovering the culture, amazing places and food is what he looks forward to during every trip. We got the chance to get some scoops from him so let’s get close and personal with this month’s man crush!

1.     Describe yourself in three simple words.

 I am a rebel.

2.     It seems like you have travelled to a lot of places. Name one place that you haven’t had the chance to mark your stone at.

United States of America

3.     If you could live in another country, where would it be and why?

As of now and where I’ve been, it’d be London, United Kingdom because, humbly, I’m kind of used to London and mostly everything like the trains & buses, places, weather and the culture since I’ve been there quite a few times plus I have a cousin who’s currently living with her family and making a living in the city of London. I have so much more to elaborate on how I’m fond of London and a few other cities around it but never mind I’ll just leave it here, for me to know, for you to wonder.

 4.     Since you have travelled to a lot of places, share with us the experience you could never forget.

Okay, this is an incident that I will never ever forget in my whole entire life haha. This happened during my trip to Iceland earlier this year. We were on our way to Akureyri from Reykjavik and the journey that would only take around 4 hours became 8. It started off with my carelessness to take a short cut by using the inland road instead of the coastal highway without googling other travellers’ opinions and we ended up stuck in pillow drift snow for almost 2 hours, trying back and forth to get pass it until the day darkened and got frostier, it felt like forever.

We gave up and got worried since the back part of our car was already at the tip of the road due to tyre sliding on the icy snow so we tried to call for help which was extremely hard since the coverage that time had us imagining hypothermia death lol but in the Mercy of God, our call got through and long story short, the biggest tow truck we’ve ever seen in our life came to the rescue, pulled our car out of the snow and brought us back to life, at the cost of 50000 Icelandic Krona which equals to around RM2000, and for saving our life, a mastercard was swiped, without hesitation hahahaha. It was such a dramatic experience but definitely a memorable one!!!

5.     How would you describe your personal style?

Honestly, I’m not fancy, instead effortless style is what I will always go for. I think that effortless style stems from knowing your body, who you are as a person, who you spend most of your time with, how you carry yourself as a person, and what your lifestyle demands as you are living your normal everyday routine. I’d prefer comfort rather than really putting effort but I’d still want to look presentable or at least not looking, messy? To put it into a more sensible way, I am a very simple person, I prefer casual, rather than formal but also I am not into street style. It doesn’t really suit my likings. Also, my style is never really fixed, it’s quite seasonal, it changes and develops time to time.

And I believe we all are like that. It really depends on what I am really into at that moment and all depends on what I’ve been inspired with at that current time, or what I am really in the mood for. As for example, in the previous few months, I had always put on floral shirts and chino pants but for now, I am more into sporty & minimal kind of clothes. Even though my style is seasonal, I will always stay true to myself. I will not force myself or put myself into situation where I feel forced, unnatural and restricted. I will never put on something I am not comfortable with. There are times where I may challenge myself and wear something outside of my comfort zone but I would still stick to my true personality and preferences.

Also, it has never really been about brands and price tags. I do thrift shop visits at times. I buy them, I wear them, as long as they are comfortable, and I like them then it really doesn’t matter to me. I mean, nice clothes with cheaper price, what a bargain right? Quite possibly, effortless style has to do with how comfortable one feels in his own skin mainly and primarily – the clothes, I personally think, are secondary. You may be the most fashionable person around, but if you are not comfortable with who you are and what you wear or how you present yourself, then no amount of fashion will make you look effortless. I strongly believe that at the end of the day, confidence is the best clothes one can ever put on his body. P/S: Throughout my entire life, most of my money went to Topman because Topman is love, Topman is life. So....just saying.
