How to Start Losing Weight (Without Stressing Yourself Out)

Trying to lose those calories and maintain an ideal weight is quite challenging. It can be a stressful task especially when you have a specific target to achieve. Through experience, I realized that by stressing out it will make your condition worse (you’ll even gain more weight and maybe unintentionally spike the reading of your blood pressure due to the stress). So, here are several tips that you can try to ensure that your initial step to start losing weight is a stress-free mission.

1.    Cut your sugar

You might not have the time to exercise or go to the gym. However, you can start losing weight by cutting down your daily sugar intake. If you love soda, premix (3-in-1) drinks, stop taking those and try to substitute them with drinks that come with less sugar content. You can make your own coffee or tea and control the amount of sugar, creamer or milk added. Yes, you might cringe at first as the drink prepared is not exactly to your liking. Don’t worry, eventually you’ll get used to it and in no time, you’ll be enjoying your drinks.

Same thing goes if you are a sweet tooth who loves desserts. Cut down the portion of your desserts. Instead of having a slice of cake, you can opt to share with your friend and just savour a bite or two in order to satisfy your craving.


2. Eat regularly

Yes. You have to eat regularly. Do not skip meals especially breakfast. Breakfast is the most important meal so that you can start your day right. Deprivation from breakfast will make you want to eat more! It’s okay to have a big breakfast (with some significant amount of calories) as you need your energy for the rest of the day.


Instead of taking a hefty breakfast, lunch or dinner (3 meals daily), you should break your eating time to 5 or 6 times.  However, control the portion of your meal. Take a small portion each time you eat just enough for you to survive until the next meal. By doing this, the calories taken gets digested fast and you will lose weight faster too!


3.    Stop snacking

Chips? Cookies? It’s a big no! This will destroy your diet and your weight loss mission will become fruitless. In case you are craving something, snack with a few (not a handful) nuts like almond and cashew or vegetables like cucumber slices or baby carrots. Or simply pick something with low calorie count. You’ll still munch but again, it is a healthier option.


4. Read

Believe it or not, you can lose weight even without exercising if you know exactly what you consume. Ergo, you have to read. Learn to read and understand the label of the food products before purchasing it. Learn to know the amount of calories and sugar in your food before putting it into your mouth. There are many misunderstandings out there regarding food intake. For instance, some people opt to skip or omit rice intake and eat fruits as part of their diet without knowing that certain fruits contained high level of fructose (where actually you have to pick the right fruits i.e. fruits with low fructose level.) Unfortunately, at the end of the day, you’ll gain more weight.
