A fashion show event everyone has been waiting for was definitely a success last night. Organized by ZALORA, one of Asia’s leading online destination together with its sponsor, UOB Bank, the ZALORAYA2018 fashion show was held at Ken Ballroom, Menara Ken, TTDI. The site was beautifully decorated with art installations by the talented artist Bono Stellar with the traditional Malay games concept from congkak, batu seremban, kites and gasing. The #UOBxZALORAYA2018 fashion show was divided into three slots from the 2pm, 5pm and 8pm shows.
Between each of the shows, guest had the privilege to experience the ZALORA Beauty Pop Up which was set up to allow guests of the shows to come and go looking at beauty products from various brands while experience their makeup services, purchasing their products and taking photos with the vanity mirrors. Among the beauty brands which supported the event includes Maybelline, The Face Shop, DIDA, Hermo, Nita, Sleek, Paul & Joe, Ioma, Laneige, Velvet Vanity, Shade Dough, Chique Cosmetics, Kamelia and Glamx.
The first fashion show slot started with a presentation of Zaimi Zulkafli, Minaz, Ezzati Amira, Kami Idea and KHANAAN for ZALORA collections for Raya. Zaimi Zulkafli collection portrays modernized cutting to the traditional wear playing with pleats and slits with solid colours. Minaz collection focuses on their signature pastel, florals and peplum elements but mixing some bold colours in a few pieces as well this year. The show went on with Ezzati Amira full array of colours in her Raya pieces this year designed to suit every individual’s style. Kami Idea preceded the show displaying the concept of Varsada + Hanagami which are not only stylish but highlights perfect modern silhouttes that are perfect for the modern women. Mezmerizing the crowd at the end of the first show slot was KHANAAN exquisite classic batik prints in their Raya collection which signified the true meaning of the Malay culture.
Before the second show started, Neelofa came at the location to promote her hijab collection during the event and did a hijab tutorial for the attendees. She was also there to give us a hint on her new bag collaboration with Sometimes.
Following the first show, ZALORAYA2018 second show slot started at shortly after 5.45pm featuring Yadotsa, Lubna, KREE and PETRA. Each collection were different in their own way starting with Yadotsa showcasing unique print lace intricacy, transient beauty of pale and white buds of Japanese florals. The show was carried on with the wonderful collection from LUBNA partnering up with Cipela shoes for the Raya collection. Pastel, laces and florals is what makes Lubna popular with its fans. KREE 2018 Raya pieces were also playing with pastel and laces but carrying other options of huge floral prints with darker shades. Ending the second show slot was the magnificent PETRA collection which featured bold colours and unique props to accessorize their look on the runway.
While waiting for the night show to commence, guests were mingling around while enjoying the scrumptious finger food and drinks served by waiters on trays. Among the guests spotted during the final slot of the show were Dato’ Jovian Mandagie, Nurita Harith, Syomirizwa Gupta, Zaihani Zain, Marsha Milan, Azira Shafinaz, Hunny Madu, Shifa Melvin and more.
The night show started slightly before the clock struck 9pm with Tom Abang Saufi’s raya presentation of bold colours twisted with simple yet elegant prints. Tom Abang Saufi accessorizes the pieces worn by models with big statement jewelleries to enhance the looks. Following the show was the presentation from ZALORA’s own in-house brand, ZALIA bringing princess cuts, sequins, florals, mermaid silhouettes and modern kurung for this year’s collection. Ending the show with AfiqM fascinating modern traditional wear Raya collection accessorized with headscarves, pearl necklaces and chic sunglasses giving that hint of vintage touch.
