Turns out, if you’re hoping to simplify your skincare routine but don’t wish to skimp on any step, then you might want to give micellar water a shot.

Here’s what we know about this handy cleanser:

What is micellar water?

Micellar water contains micelles, small particles that work like many miniature sponges. These trap sebum, dirt, and makeup while dissolving impurities and hydrating your skin, which makes micellar water way more effective than the tap water we use to wash our face.

In fact, the reason micellar water is so popular in France is because the water in Paris can be extremely harsh on the skin. Micellar water is much gentler, so it doesn’t strip the skin of its essential oils or irritate it while cleansing.

Micellar water has become super-popular these days — and for plenty of good reasons:

1. It’s super easy to use

When it comes to skincare products, there’s nothing easier to use than micellar water. Simply drench a cotton pad with it and wipe your face, eyes, and lips to cleanse and remove makeup. For eye makeup removal, close your eyes and hold the pad over them for a few seconds, then wipe. That’s it! You don’t even have to rinse afterward.

Plus, all skin types can benefit from micellar water, especially dry, sensitive, or acne-prone ones.

2. It’s a multi-tasker

Good news for those who tend to crash into bed with a face full of makeup because you are too tired to go through a multi-step bedtime skin care routine.

Instead of using a cleanser and makeup remover, save some time by using micellar water to cleanse your skin and remove your makeup. Leave a bottle on your bedside table —surely you can eke out that bit of effort before hitting the sack.

3. It’s travel-friendly

You don’t need be near a sink to use micellar water, which makes it a handy skincare essential for travelling. Just pack a bottle along with some cotton pads to cleanse on the go. Fight the dry cabin air and use it after a long flight to refresh your complexion, then follow up with a deep-hydrating moisturiser.

4. It’s an efficient post-workout cleanse

After an intense session at the gym, it’s vital to cleanse your skin to prevent sweat from clogging up your pores. Micellar water gives your skin a quick but effective cleanse. Stash a bottle in your gym bag so you can cleanse conveniently without having to fight for a space at the sink.

5. It comes in different formulas

Not all micellar waters are the same. Look for the one that best suits your skin. Some hydrate and soothe, some purify and mattify, and some intensely purifies and removes even waterproof makeup. Well, we did say this product was wondrous.
