Hari Raya is definitely the best time to meet and catch up with relatives and friends. Chit chatting, taking loads of selfies and wefies, capturing the best memories, surely you don’t have time to frequently check on your makeup. Then, after a few hours you caught a glimpse of yourself in the mirror only to realize that it has smudged off!
How do you get your makeup to last all day during Raya? Here are some useful tips for you to consider so that you have something up your sleeve this coming celebration.
1. A Make-Up Ready Skin
In order to ensure that your make up will look smooth and last longer, you must prep your skin. Implement good skincare so that you’re starting with the best possible canvas i.e your face. Don’t forget to cleanse, exfoliate (to polish away dead surface cells), tone and moisturize. The smoother your face, the more even makeup can be applied, thus, the longer it lasts.
2. Say YES to primer
Primer locks your moisturiser and provides a smooth, even surface for makeup. After moisturizing, apply a hydrating primer to avoid your makeup from being absorbed, so it will stick longer. If you are worried about smudgy eyes, use a suitable eye primer, as it will prevent your eyeshadow from creasing.
3. Opt for the suitable foundation
Always choose an oil-free foundation with a long-wear formula so that it will smooth your complexion and lasts throughout the day. With a contour blending sponge, apply light layer of foundation to the face. Then, if you need to, use a concealer to cover up blemishes or any dark spots.
4. Apply makeup using light layers
If you wish your makeup to stay all day long, say no to heavy makeup. Remember, in this case, less is more. Apply light layers to create a smooth complexion. Use a beauty blender so that it will leave your skin looking natural with more even coverage. Avoid the cakey look or any heavy finish.
5. Wear waterproof mascara and eyeliner
For a smudge free eyes all day long, try a waterproof formula mascara and eyeliner.
6. Use translucent powders
Translucent powder will help you achieve matte effect, soaking up excess oil left on the face and keep everything in place for a longer period of time. Once you are done, apply translucent powder lightly to your face for a flawless finish. You can also gently tap translucent powder between layers of your lipstick for a perfect lips or on the upper lid, after applying the eyeliner to avoid any runny incident.
7. Set It Then Hands Off
Once you’ve applied your makeup, seal it with a light layer of translucent powder, then hands off. Do not touch your face unless it is necessary. It will not only smudge your makeup, but without realizing, you’re spreading germs and bacteria that can cause blemishes or skin breakouts.
Last but not least, remember to keep the essentials with you. Keep your products in a bag so it is convenient for you to touch up (only when you need to). Avoid reapplying makeup too often. Use a blotting sheet to soak up unwanted shine or excess oil. Do you have any makeup tips to share? Kindly drop some words in the comment box below.
