Channel the Biker Look Even If You Don't Own a Motorcycle

Alright, even if we don’t own a motorcycle, we can get the appeal of that hot biker look. It’s a look that oozes the aura of a tough girl badassery without (necessarily) having a bad track record to go with it. Plus, with that rugged leather jacket on, you’d feel like nothing can stand in your way. What’s there not to love? It’s a confident look that demands respect and respect is what it will get. Luckily enough, there is no need to own a motorbike to own this look. All you need is a couple of key pieces before you can take this style to the streets. Care to read on?

1. The color black

The most basic rule when it comes to the biker look is to rock the color black. Grey, dark green, blue and silver are also acceptable colors to own this look, but if you’re new to the game and want to play it safe? Then black is the way to go. It is a classic, solid, effortless option that will not fail you in this arena.

So invest in black tops, jeans, jackets, sunglasses, accessories and the like. You get the picture. Just be careful not to wear too much black in one outfit. Break things up with a spot of color here and there.

3. Ripped jeans

There is nothing quite like a pair of ripped jeans to lend a trailblazing edge to your OOTD. Of course, there are other options such as regular distressed jeans and even leather pants, but when it comes to biker vibes and versatility, ripped jeans win hands down. You can slip these on whenever you feel like channeling the biker look or to simply have a regular day out with your friends. They’re plenty comfortable too, so that’s a bonus point.

4. The classic biker jacket

No biker look is complete without the iconic leather biker jacket. It’s a piece that instantly elevates your look from Cool Girl Next Door to Tough Girl Biker Chic. Honestly, if you don’t have this, your look is almost sure to fail.

Unless of course, you’re a biker style veteran, then props to you. Till then, slip this on, and don’t be shy to play around with studs too. After all, the biker look is all about the color black, leather and studs. As such, it stands to reason that a studded leather jacket would add some extra oomph to an already fiery attire.

5. Heavy boots

This is where we take a leaf out of the boys’ book and make their things ours. For this particular look, we’re aiming for their shoes. Studded boots, combat boots, leather boots, the works so long as we’re talking about chunky footwear. Not only are these comfortable for your feet, they would help drive the message of your biker image home. Whether they are dirty, beat up, or otherwise, these heavy boots would work the same. A good pair of boots is like icing on the cake for this OOTD.

6. Chunky accessories

Got everything else but still feel like something is missing? Then it’s time to turn things up a notch by complementing your OOTD with the right accessories. These can range from chunky bracelets, leather watches, silver rings to oversized sunglasses. The key to winning this one is to keep the colors understated (classic black or silver) but rock design bold. Chunky accessories with angular corners reminiscent of studs are power ingredients in this area.
