Festival season is upon us and what better way to start if off with one of the most significant film festivals in the world? The annual Cannes Film Festival. The Cannes Film Festival marked its 72nd year last week showcasing excellent movies from all around the world without any language barriers. Bong Joon-ho’s “Parasite” won the prestigious Palme d'Or, which is the main award of the entire event.

While movies are the main focus of the festival, fashion plays an important role too as the red carpet was filled with A-list celebrities who attended to promote their film. Since the Cannes Film Festival is probably the most star-studded festival in the world, people there took the opportunity to glam themselves up and show off their designer clothes to the world.

Here are some attendees that won us over the red carpet.

1.    Elle Fanning

Elle Fanning was having a moment at the festival this year. Not only is she one of the juries for the main awards, she served look after look after look on the red carpet, instantly winning our hearts and fashion enthusiasts’ respect for being bold with her choices. Each day she looked elegant as ever with a peach Gucci dress with a cape to accompany it on the first day, being all floral with a Valentino gown on the second day, went to the “Once Upon A Time in Hollywood” premiere in a playful nude Agent Provocateur corset underneath a Dior top, and finishing it off in a Reem Acra fairytale-like gown. Fanning truly owned the festival that week.

2.    Julianne Moore

Age is not a factor to stop you from being fashionable. Just look at Julianne Moore at the red carpet of this year’s Cannes Film Festival where she awed us with beautiful dresses and gowns, only she can pull off. During the opening ceremony, she wore a tight emerald green Dior exclusive off-shoulder dress which hugged her body showcasing her impressive hourglass figure at 59 years old. At the premiere of “Les Misérables” and “Rocketman”, she wore a black Louis Vuitton bustier dress with leather cape over it to give it a taste of modernism and a Givenchy sequin dress with a pink flowy cape this time respectively.

3.    Eva Longoria

This “Desperate Housewives” star came to the festival with a show-stopping blush pink Alberta Ferretti gown which is custom made just for her. The thigh-high slit enabled her to show off her strong and gorgeous legs which was complimented with heels that match. At the “Rocketman” premiere then, she brought the house down once again with a sparkly embellished Cristina Ottaviano gown to really shine from the crowd.

4.    Chloë Sevigny

Chloë Sevigny arrived at the Cannes Film Festival channelling Audrey Hepburn with a long black glove paired with her custom Mugler dress. However, at the “Once Upon A Time in Hollywood” premiere, she ignored the long dress status quo and wore a pink Miu Miu cocktail dress instead showing off a playful side of her. This proved that Sevigny can pull off both elegant and fun gracefully at the red carpet.

5.    Sara Sampaio

Sara Sampaio was a bit late to the party, but she came in fashionably late, nonetheless. The Victoria’s Secret angel arrived at the “Rocketman” premiere in an all-metallic silver suit which redefined the whole meaning of high-end pantsuits for women. The Rami Kadi piece came together with a train and instantly our jaws dropped. Then she switched things up into a more feminine look at the “Once Upon A Time in Hollywood” premiere wearing a gorgeous Georges Hobeika gown that goes perfectly with her skin tone.

There are many other looks from various top celebrities that attended the festival, but we could not possibly name them all. However, who was your favourite dressed there? Share your opinions with us at the comments section below.
