Adam Reed and Paul Percival are the power duo behind Percy & Reed, one of the worlds leading hair care brands and salons. Having spent decades working with the best in the business, jet-setting around the world and tending to the locks of the famous they were finally ready to share their top secret techniques for creating those A-list looks.
Opening their first store on Great Portland Street and then following with their second store in Spitafields a few years later they have combined their love of hair styling, products and business to build a boutique hair styling empire. This happens to also include a prettily-packaged eponymous product line, both attracting a ritzy clientele including the likes of Henry Holland, Rita Ora, Sophie Dahl and Harry Styles.

HOW DID YOU GET INTO HAIRDRESSING?
Paul — I was lucky enough to be taken under the wing of Session Stylist Eugene Souleiman who saw my potential and it all took off from there!
Adam — From a very young age I knew I wanted to be a hairdresser. At the age of 13 I started working in a small salon and I knew it was going to make me happy. Seeing people leaving with a smile is really what I love about this job.
WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST BEAUTY GIG?
Paul — My first big exciting Beauty Gig was being flown out to Australia to shoot with Vogue.
WHO IS YOUR HAIR & BEAUTY ICON?
Paul — Bridget Bardot or Audrey Hepburn. They are both classic beauty icons.
Adam — Barbra Streisand. She is completely timeless.
WHO OR WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
Paul — New young talent in all creative fields. It’s always exciting and inspiring to see.
Adam — So many things! Just walking around London I am constantly inspired. I also love Guido Palau and Julien d’Ys work. They are both hair stylists and their work is incredible.
FASHION AND BEAUTY, DO THEY GO HAND IN HAND?
Paul & Adam — Yes absolutely. They are both a statement about how you look and feel. One compliments the other.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE PERCY & REED PRODUCT AND WHY?
Paul — Abundantly Bouncy Volumising Mousse. You can achieve any style and it isn’t crispy or sticky like most Mousses. It will give your hair amazing bounce and hold.

WITH THE HEAT AND HUMIDITY IN ASIA, WHAT WOUD BE YOUR TOP TIP FOR DEALING WITH BAD HAIR DAYS?
Paul — Always prep your hair with Perfectly Perfecting Wonder Balm. Apply to wet hair after washing and before you apply any of your usual styling products. It will seal down the cuticle and protect against humidity.

Adam — Sophie Dahl. She is effortlessly natural and beautiful.
Paul — Natalie Portman.
WHAT ARE YOUR TRAVEL NECCESTIES?
Paul — I love Africa and try to visit my family who live out there as often as I can. Morukuru Is the most amazing place to stay. I tend to bring my Hampton Sun gel SOF 15, I PAD Mini, Hairs Best Friend Totally Intensive Treatment Oil+
Adam — I tend to visit Thailand once a year where I usually stay at Kiong Nin Beach in Koh Lanta as it’s one of the most serene and beautiful places on earth. My travel essentials for the trip are Idedeen Tan Optimiser tablets, Quite Frankly Flawless Finishing Polish, Lanvin Slides.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE BEAUTY LOOK/TREND OF THE MOMENT?
Adam –Blonde! It is all about Blonde for us this season and the multi tones that sit in the blonde family. The main thing to take into consideration is that blonde has to look tonal and healthy. Make sure that tones blend and match. Blondes should look the most perfectly natural as possible.
Paul — The bob and shorter hair. It is the latest hair must-have with everyone from Cheryl to Sienna taking the chop.
